Home Lift Cost in Malaysia

Updated: Sep 6, 2022

Thinking of installing a home lift? Thinking of how much it would cost? We hope this article will be able to give you some clarity when it comes to Home Lift costs in Malaysia.

There are 3 factors that will determine the cost of your elevator.

1. Origin of your home lift

Most home lifts available in Malaysia are imported from China, Taiwan or Europe by the various home lift suppliers in Malaysia. The cost of the home lift is heavily depended on the origin of the home lift. The cost of home lift buying through supplier will usually include import and installation costs. The costs range between RM80,000 to above RM150,000 for a good functional elevator.

However, like anything else in the market, you may also import your own lift directly from China with the available platforms on the net. Importing directly from China will be cheaper as the cost ranges between RM 30,000 to RM80,000. However, this cost does not include freight charges, import duty and installation charges.

2. Types of Home Lifts

Broadly speaking, there are two types of home lifts available in the market. One we call it self-contained elevator and the second we call it cabin elevator.

The image on the left is the self-contained home lifts. It means, the home lift is self-contained where the lift comes with a shaft. This is an easy lift construction for mainly existing home without heavy renovation. It does not require contractors to build a whole shaft to accommodate the lift.

As mentioned in the paragraph above, this type of elevator is usually cheaper ranging between RM60,000 to RM150,000 depending on the total travel height of your home and the finishing of your elevator.

The image on the right is a cabin home lift. This is suitable for renovated homes or new homes as it requires heavy construction to your premise. It requires your contractor to build a shaft to accommodate the cabin. The price ranges between RM120,000 to RM250,000 (excluding construction cost of the elevator).

3. Finishing of your home lift

Another factor which will affect the price of your home lift will be the finishing of the home lift. The costs stipulated in the above paragraphs are the costs for standard specs of the home lift by each supplier in Malaysia.

If you are seeking for certain materials that differ from the ones provided for by the supplier, the costs of your home lift will be steeper. The cost varies between RM10,000 to RM50,000 depending on your preferences.
